The following internships are available for Spring 2015. Spring interns will be expected to report to work in early January 2015 and work through May 2015. The application deadline for spring internships is December 12, 2015.
Sports Management - Sports Management interns will assist the General Manager in the team’s off-season administrative activities. Duties include researching prospective players and performing administrative tasks such as preparing for the NPF Draft.
Tickets/Community Relations - Tickets/Community Relations interns are responsible for working with the Director of Ticket Sales to research groups who may be interested in purchasing group tickets for the 2015 season. Interns will cultivate relationships with these groups and try to engage with the community outside of the softball world to create interest in attending Racers games.
PR/Media Relations - PR/Media Relations interns are responsible for maintaining the team's website and social media presence, especially in the off-season. Duties include writing press releases, posting on behalf of the team on various social networks, and cultivating relationships with local media personnel and outlets to increase coverage of the team during the season. Interns will also work on maintaining a current list of media contacts for the team to use during the season.
Promotions/Marketing - Promotions/Marketing interns are responsible for creating the 2015 promotions schedule, attending public appearances on behalf of the Racers, bringing creative ideas to the table to market the team, and creating marketing materials.
The following internships are available for the Summer 2015 season. Summer interns will be expected to report to work in early May 2015 and work through the conclusion of the home schedule (approx. Aug 19). Summer interns have the opportunity to earn commission through sales and a monthly fuel stipend. Evening and weekend work will be required and all interns must have local housing. The application deadline for summer internships is April 6, 2015.
Tickets/Community Relations - Tickets interns will serve as a liaison between the team and fans wishing to purchase tickets. Interns will cultivate relationships with these groups and try to engage with the community outside of the softball world to create interest in attending Racers games. Interns will be responsible for selling tickets, making phone calls to an existing database, cold calling, filling walk-in and phone orders, supervising and staffing ticket windows during games, customer service during and following games, compiling daily/weekly sales numbers, orchestrating group outings, and other office and stadium duties as needed. Interns will also make group and advertising calls on behalf of the team and behalf of office personnel.
Merchandise - Merchandise interns serve as Racers representatives between the team and our customers and vendors, and manage the sale of team merchandise on the road. Interns will assist with inventory, stocking, filling walk-in and online orders, game supervision of merchandise area and staffing at all events. They must also compile daily/weekly sales and inventory reports. Other office and stadium duties may be required from time to time during the season.
Promotions - Promotions interns are responsible for planning and executing in-game promotions, attending public appearances to market the Racers, interacting with fans, creating marketing materials, assisting with team advertising campaigns, and generally marketing the team. Entertaining fans at all Racers events is required. Candidates must be personable and energetic. Other office and stadium duties may be required from time to time during the season.
PR/Media Relations - PR/Media Relations interns are responsible for maintaining the team website, social media presence. They also compile game day notes for media/fans, assist media with coordinating player interviews, write feature stories about the players and team, write game recaps/previews for the team website, compile in-game stats to support the broadcast team. Some photography may be required every now and then. Interns will also assist the broadcast team with set-up and game production, and make group and advertising calls on behalf of the team and on behalf of office personnel. Other office and stadium duties may be required from time to time during the season.
Grounds Crew - Grounds crew interns serve as assistants to the Head Groundskeeper in the maintenance of the playing field at Firestone Stadium. Applicants should be able to work well with others in an environment that may include long hours and stressful situations. Applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs. Duties include but are not limited to raking, chalking, and maintaining cleanliness in and around all areas of the stadium.
Food/Beverage - Food/Beverage interns will work closely with the Concession Manager to ensure all aspects of food and beverage preparation and distribution are successful at Firestone Stadium. Duties include assisting with inventory control on all concession supplies and assist with the coordination and operation of all concession stands and picnic areas. Interns will also research and implement new ideas including food items, stands and pricing, and work with the front office to reach revenue and customer service goals.
