NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 13, 2010) - One bunt can make a difference in a game and that's exactly what happened for the Tennessee Diamonds. A suicide squeeze to the third base side by Loryn Johnson scored Aubree Brattin in the 10th for a 1-0 win over Akron Sunday afternoon.

Abbott, 2-0 on the season, has thrown 27 shutout innings since joining the Diamonds. She struck out 14 and did not walk a batter.

The Racers (3-2) threatened in the fifth with two outs as Courtney Bures hit a fly ball to deep center for a double. She advanced to third when Jessica Valis reached base on a bunt single but Abbott forced Lisa Modglin to ground out to third to get out of the jam.

The Diamonds (2-3) had hits in the second, third, fourth, fifth and eighth innings, but could not force a run across a run until the 10th.

Shannon Doepking paced the Diamonds with two singles while Valis led the Racers with two hits, both singles.

Right-hander Jamee Juarez went the distance for the Racers. She gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out six in 9.1 innings.

Akron travels to Chicago next to play a three-game set against the Bandits Sunday, June 20 through Tuesday, June 22.
